Kourwéogo: A traditional loincloth weaving workshop opens its doors in Tangsèghin.

Boussé, (AIB) – The association ”Tikwendé confection” opened, on November 20, 2023, a learning workshop for making traditional loincloths in Tangsèghin. The launching ceremony of the courses took place in the presence of the customary and religious administrative authorities of the commune of Niou.

The populations of the village of Tangsèghin in the rural commune of Niou, welcomed on November 20, 2023, the official opening of a center dedicated to the training of women in the weaving and fabric making trades.

The president of the Association, Mamounata Ouédraogo/Zoungrana, also elected consular of the chamber of trades of the central plateau region, explained the motivations for her action.

She considered the need to create a permanent training structure in her locality of origin.

Ms. Ouédraogo said she made her contribution to the economic and social development of her commune and above all her contribution to improving the living conditions of her colleagues.

Mamounata Ouédraogo has been working in the field of training since 2001. Requested by several local NGOs, she has contributed to the training of a good number of people across the country.

“For this first session, around twenty women and young girls from surrounding localities such as Niou, Goabga, Sakouli, Napalgué, Raongo, Zèguèdéghin are registered,” she mentioned.

She indicated that at the end of 30 days of learning, the trainees will be equipped to work individually or in a cooperative in the field of making Faso danfani and koko dunda farcloths.

The notables welcomed the initiative and for them, the formalization of this production and learning workshop diversifies the education offered in the village.

The vice-president of the special delegation of the commune of Boussé, Madi Ouédraogo, praised the commitment of the promoter for her fight in favor of women and children.

He also encouraged the learners to be diligent and hard-working, in order to make the most of this opportunity.

Because according to him, any situation which can allow the individual to have access to know-how in a rural environment is an opportunity to be seized to increase their income and therefore their quality of life.
